this is me attempting to keep my cool. i think it’s working.
i’m still in shock. i just happened to go to the shop that a close friend rec’d to me to get my first ever trim-up of my newly natural hair, and one of my favorite artists is in a chair getting his beard shaped. tonight is one of the many reasons i wanted to move to this city. this is common’s usual spot, he’s seen in fort greene very frequently. i loved that it was business as usual for everyone coming in and out of the shop, which is probably why he keeps coming. i was content in having a total internal squee moment to myself with no acknowledgement, but then after he was done in the chair, he went around the shop to say hi to the barbers, and when he stopped at mine he told me i had a nice fro. getting a compliment from a public figure in a completely chill environment isn’t on my bucket list or anything, but damn, i’m happy to have it under my belt.
just leaving this here so that i can save the moment. bronze it, be able to look back on it. common, if you ever read this, your compliment meant a lot to me.
