I’m mystified. I hope Afeni is getting residuals or something. I’ve never said these words aloud, but… that shit cray.
despite the loud ass group of people at the table next to me who decided to hold an in-depth, shouted convo at a jazz club rather than a restaurant or idk, maybe someone’s residence, the show was awesome. nicolay was as stellar live as i imagined and i am now officially a fan of the hot at nights. north carolina breeds great music.
last night i was reading childiswealth’s tumbls about being at the chrisette michelle/robert glasper show at the blue note and having some major envious feelings. i love chrisette and love love robert and have never been to the blue note. woe.
today, i found out i won soulbounce’s giveaway for tickets to see nicolay tmw night. at the blue note. a contest i’d forgotten i entered.
i love love love me some nicolay. he’s part of foreign exchange which equals default love, plus i think he’s ridiculously talented, i love his story and city lights vol. 2: shibuya does not leave my ipod. i somehow missed the news that he’d reworked some of the music from it with a band and they’d released an ep (more proof that applying to art school stole the 2nd half of 2011 from me). so, i am literally geeking out over getting the chance to hear these new interpretations live. and at the blue note! the show doesn’t start til 12:30a, so technically i guess it’s on saturday, but i will be there and i will be wide awake. and childiswealth is coming with.
