saw this last night.

  • had several hilarious and perfect scenes.
  • jennifer westfeldt’s directing is great, acting is ok, writing is eh and face is…distracting.
  • maya was my favorite part. clearly.
  • kristen was 2nd fave. she does drama and darkness well! i was so impressed. and sad for her character. i want to see her in more serious roles.
  • seeing maya, kristen, chris and jon together again was weird at first, but not distracting. i kinda want them to do something else together just for the hell of it.
  • the kid who played joe is adorable and darling and i melted every time he was on screen.
  • excellent portrayal of various aspects of new york.
  • worst. ending. ever. no really, The Worst.

A lot of crazy, incredible, over-the-top things happen in Bridesmaids, but the movie really succeeds because the relationship between Kristen’s and Maya’s characters. I love seeing friendships between women realistically portrayed, and that was a beautifully depicted best-friendship — one wasn’t just the sidekick to the other. But then all the characters in the movie were fully formed. I love the scene where we first meet Melissa McCarthy’s character and all Kristen asks her “How’s it going?” and Melissa says it’s going great, but she fell off a cruise ship, she hit every railing going down, a dolphin saved her, and now she has pins in her leg. I knew nothing about Melissa McCarthy until I saw the movie, and as an opening scene for an actress it was just magnificent. The fact that Bridesmaids did as well as it did was an amazing accomplishment. And I love that the movie wasn’t sold as “Get All Your Girlfriends and Go See Bridesmaids!” It was just “Everybody Go See Bridesmaids, It’s a Funny, Awesome Movie.”

Best. Interview. Ever.

so i finally put this in my eyeballs last night. best movie to see at 11:40pm ever. i’m now contemplating the purchase of a blu-ray player just so i can be privy to the full package of extras that probably won’t be on the dvd. i could watch these two all day, every day. and this interview is just icing on the friggin cake. i want this guy to interview THE WHOLE WORLD. i would totally go see four little homeless farts.
